EMPOWERING YOUTH IN DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE – MAGLAYANG COALITION KICKS OFF COMMUNITY CARAVAN IN SULTAN MASTURA, MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE

A Community Caravan, themed “Strengthening Youth Participation in Democratic Governance,” commenced on November 25, 2023, in Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao del Norte. Organized by the MAGLAYANG coalition and supervised by the United Voices for Peace Network, Inc. (UVPN), the event saw remarkable eagerness and involvement, aiming to promote youth participation in governance, encourage Sangguniang Kabataan members to advocate for youth rights, recognize their contributions in decision-making, and foster a culture of transparency and accountability.
The event was honored by the presence of Municipal Administrator Mr. Mohaimen Usman, Local Youth Development Officer Mr. Mohamar Talib Mala, and resource speaker Mr. Bong B. Lumabao, LPT, Ph.D. The participants actively engaged in the event, and the lecture not only cultivated participants’ knowledge of democracy but also provided enlightenment, empowering them to actively engage with their community.
The presence of Mahatma M. Sangcala added more enlightenment to the participants, empowering them to continue engaging with their community. He shared insights on democratic processes, narrating his journey as a peace-builder and providing inspiration to all youth leaders in BARMM. His message emphasized the importance of empowering youth, stating that “Kabataan Katuwang sa Pagbabago”.

The Community Caravan engages youth leaders in increasing their involvement in democratic governance and supports them in boosting the demand for democratic governance.
