UVPN Provincial Coordinators for YouthLed Project’s youth networks in BARMM joined as BARMM delegation to YouthLed Civic Education Summit

In the recently concluded Civic Education Summit 2023 organized by YouthLed PH, UVPN provincial coordinators for YouthLed youth networks in BARMM joined as BARMM delegation and filled in active roles during the program. The Civic Education Summit is an annual gathering of thinkers and practitioners to discuss the state of civic education in the country.
With this year’s theme, ‘Elevating Civic Education Skills in the 21st Century’, the summit discuss about the state, opportunities, possibilities, and agenda towards promotion and enhancement of Civic Education. BARMM delegates, Ms. Arrah Samsudin (Maguindanao), Mr. Jerry Kamid (Cotabato City & SGA), and Mr. Rhechee Pangilan (Tawi-Tawi), has been the partner of UVPN in its civic education efforts with young people in underserved communities in BARMM, particularly in the popularization of the newly-established BARMM and its parliamentary system. They were also joined by BYC Chairperson MP Sultan Marjanie Macasalong, PhD in the delegation to discuss civic education in government programs.
BARMM delegates joined a special conversation with the Mission Director of USAID Mr. Ryan Washburn and discussed about UVPN and YoutLed efforts in BARMM, including future prospects.
In the message of commitment representing the Bangsamoro youth in the Summit, Ms. Arrah Samsudin resonated with the theme by extending, “Bilang kabataang Bangsamoro, ang pagpapalaganap at pagsasaugali ng civic education sa aming rehiyon ay hindi lamang para ipakita na kaming kabataan ay mayroon ding boses. Ito ay paraan para matagumpay naming maitaguyod ang nagsasariling rehiyon na noon pama’y matagal na naming gustong makamit.”
We thank our partners in YouthLed Project, The Asia Foundation and the USAID, in mainstreaming the uniqueness of the Bangsamoro context in the Summit as far as civic education is concerned.
